The mission of the W.O.R.K.S. Coalition, Inc. is to educate, equip, and empower community members to create a healthy and drug-free future for children, youth and families. Programs include:
-
Youth Substance Prevention Program - Through interactive workshops, mentorship, and support groups, young people are provided with a safe space to discuss and learn about these complex issues. The program focuses on building youth resilience by equipping them with coping mechanisms, decision-making skills, and knowledge about the risks and consequences of substance use. The program's design encourages youth to take an active role, fostering a sense of ownership and engagement.
-
Adult Education Program – empowers adults to better understand and support young people. This program covers a range of topics, including parenting strategies for dealing with youth substance use, insights into youth mental health, and techniques to foster resilience in young people. Interactive sessions create a space where adults can share experiences, learn from experts, and develop skills that will enable them to provide better support to the youth in their lives.
-
Systems Change Program -This program focuses on advocacy, policy development, and coalition building to drive systemic changes. Existing community strengths are identified and leveraged to channel them into efforts to alter policies and practices that affect the community. This program also involves mentoring other coalitions and organizations, sharing our expertise to amplify the impact of systemic change efforts. The work here is about creating lasting impacts that transcend immediate community needs, focusing on long-term sustainability and resilience.
